ABOUT ME

I am a licensed psychotherapist in Washington State (LMHC), with 30 years experience in private practice.

I am member of the American Mental Health Association, and the Washington State Mental Health Counselors Association. I participate in workshops and consultations to increase and maintain professional skills and information. I recently completed a certification course on interpersonal neurobiology from the Mindsight Institute.

I have developed a weight loss program called "6 Weeks, 4 Choices", and I am currently finishing a book, "Getting From Knowing to Doing, The Four Choices of Weight Loss and Management".

I enjoy my work. You will find me open-hearted, actively engaged, curious and discrete, with clear boundaries and respectful in disagreements. I have a sense of humor with an easy laugh.

I work well with people who are new to therapy as well as those with previous experience.

PHILOSOPHY

I BELIEVE that this is an equal relationship, and that this partnership is based on mutual respect and qualities of curiosity, honesty and trust.  You will have my full focus and find that I am actively engaged in your success. I am solution oriented and offer unwavering support through the challenges of personal growth.  I often approach my work as a teacher, and view the work itself as a process of developing skills and knowledge.

THERAPY is not a quick fix or a guarantee, but, working in partnership with a skilled therapist will save you time and frustration, increasing the probability of completion.

FINDING A THERAPIST can be a difficult process.  To help people make that decision, I offer a no fee 30 minute meeting to give you a chance to meet me and get a sense of whether or not you feel comfortable with me.  At that meeting, I go into more details about my techniques and fees, and answer any questions you might have.  I will also be able to assess whether I can offer the kind of counseling service that would most benefit you.
